Russia’s Superjet 100 and Il-114-300 Passenger Aircraft to be Showcased for the First Time in Wings India 2026

With a view to strengthening ties between the two close friends, India and Russia, Moscow has provided India with its Superjet-100-class regional jet and the Il-114-300 passenger aircraft, both made with indigenous technology. There is also a replica of the Indian tricolour on the Russian Il-114-300 aircraft. Both aircraft will reinforce the Indian aviation sector, as most of the existing Indian aviation fleet consists of aircraft manufactured by Boeing and Airbus , both Western manufacturers. The passenger aircraft agreement between India and Russia will significantly strengthen relations between the two friendly nations. Russia says that its aircraft would provide India with technological diversification and, in the long run, decrease costs and ease supply shortages. The acceptance of these aircraft in the Indian market will be highly dependent on safety standards, maintenance arrangements and most importantly, economic viability.

Why the Indian Army is Building Combat Drones in Huge Numbers?

The Indian Army is preparing for a revolution in how it performs in future combat operations . In a disclosure pointing to a change in both military policy and defence manufacturing, General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff, has revealed that the force is no longer just buying drones but is now manufacturing them on a massive scale across all its operational commands. He confirmed that each military command has been authorized to produce or induct thousands of combat drones moving away from reliance on slow, centralized procurement pipelines. The effort will strengthen self-reliance while ensuring that frontline units receive systems tailored to their specific operational needs. Each command is either building or fielding about 5,000 drones. These are not standard or regular solutions but bespoke systems designed for unique operational environments.
